Sambhrant has committed his life journey to education transformation of the country through a combination of large scale non-profit and for-profit education programmes and policy evangelisation.
His focus areas include the Zero Investment Innovations in Education Initiative (ZIIEI) motivates teachers to come up with micro-innovations to solve the local educational problems, which require zero Investment. This scheme has been implemented across 2m teachers across 31 states and union territories in India. HDFC Bank has provided £10m of funds for this initiative over the last five years. The Edupreneur Village is an edtech incubator now in its second year of existence, and Auro Scholar provides ‘motivation to learn’ by awarding monthly micro-scholarships (conditional cash transfers) of up to £10 to secondary students on achieving benchmark performance in a 10 minute curriculum-aligned quiz on a smartphone.
He is an investor in Scholr, an AI-driven doubt resolution app for school students in remote India, co-founded the Education Innovation Fund of India and a social innovation fund with SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions). He was actively involved in the production of India’s New Education Policy in 2019 and is a Nominated Member for the government panel the National Council for Teacher Education.
He has studied at Harvard University, as well as Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and IIT Delhi.
