About
***This event is now over, but we look forward to seeing you at Ideas for India 2023. To find out more about how you can get involved, email us at contact@bridgeindia.org.uk***
Our inaugural ‘Ideas For India’ conference will bring together business, policy and NRI leaders from the UK, India, Europe and further afield to discuss the next wave of India’s growth as an economy and as a nation.
The ‘India Story’ abroad is often presented through a narrow lens, be it focusing only on business and the economy, society or policy landscape. Given its diversity, everything about India, and its polar opposite, is true in unison. Bridge India seeks to highlight and celebrate this nuance, to help India-watchers understand India better.
Until recently, business, foreign policy and social issues occupied distinct spaces. The convergence of dialogue, engagement and collaboration between business, government, civil society and Indian diaspora has blurred the lines between each.
Bridge India’s work operates at their convergence, helping drive conversations in a unique, inclusive and focused forum. Over the last three years, we have hosted Ministers, Ambassadors, army leaders, CEOs, as well as leading media and civil society voices, all in high-level private discussions with our Members.
Ideas For India will build on these valuable conversations.
What are the key future opportunities and challenges for India? How does your India look like in 20 years’ time? What are big global solutions that India is leading on?
What are your Ideas for India?

A million Ideas for India. Celebrating 75 years of Independence.

300+ attendees. 50+ foreign delegates. 10+ countries represented.

12+ sessions. 3 days.
Why attend
The Indian government has a bold ambition of growing the Indian economy from US$2.9 trillion today to US$5 trillion in 2024. India leads the world in startups, technology, telecoms, consumer goods, renewable energy and elsewhere. But it also faces unique challenges of climate change, unemployment, sustainable growth, and overburdened banking and power sectors.
You should attend this event if want to:
- Meet CxOs from the UK, India, Europe and more widely to discuss The India Story
- Participate in an exchange of enterprise, innovation and dialogue that convenes business and policy leaders, changemakers and entrepreneurs, civil society and investors, to enhance collaboration
- Take part in parallel sessions and curate your own, tailored agenda
- Set up B2B meetings as part of your involvement
- Meet 300+ attendees from 10+ countries attending
The Agenda includes: Startup innovation in India | Is India still a good investment destination? | Closer Europe-India collaboration | Energy security | What is your big Idea For India? | Fireside chats | Exclusive breakfast briefings | Understanding India’s regions | Sustainability and climate change | The rise of ‘fake news’ | Pressures on civil society
We will have a special focus on fake news. The phenomenon of mis- and disinformation takes root, evolves and proliferates and can cause real world harm. We will explore how India has been impacted by this problem across society, delving into how conspiracy theories turn viral through narrative localisation, and what measures law enforcement can take to prevent the spread of fake news.
Our Partners include the India All-Party Parliamentary Group.
The event will be split over three days, including:
- Day 1: Foreign education and sports delegation visit to Birmingham
- Day 2: Commonwealth Education Conference, Policy Forum in partnership with the India All-Party Parliamentary Group, Awards Dinner at House of Commons*
- Day 3: Full-day plenary, Combating mis- and disinformation*, Doing Business in Germany, Black-tie dinner

Day 2: Commonwealth Education Conference
The Commonwealth Education Conference is being held in partnership with leading investor in UK education, ATMC, and will have a broad Commonwealth focus.
A key component of UK-Commonwealth collaborations is the education sector. This event will bring together leading innovators from the world of higher and further education, edtechs and others. Participants will be attending from the UK, India, Australia, New Zealand, and more widely.
Covid has changed everything, from student experiences to business models. But education is not standing still. As the new world is reshaped by new pressures, our unique forum brings together innovators from across disciplines to collaborate on how to set the pace, and keep apace, with changes in education. There will be a particular focus on the concept of a Digital Commonwealth, where collaborations across borders are made easier today in a post-pandemic world.
Join us to explore what a ‘Digital Commonwealth’ in a post-Covid world would look like.
The CEC will also give foreign delegates the opportunity to visit Birmingham City University on a visit to explore collaborations on Day 1.
