The world’s largest elections are on in India. We’re hosting an exciting session with one of India’s most senior journalists on a review of the General Elections, as well as talking about her career, shortly after the results come out on 4 June.
Sonia Singh has been a journalist, senior television anchor, author & Editor of India’s most respected news network, NDTV. Currently, she is also a Visiting Fellow at the Judge Business School, Cambridge University and part of the Global Advisory Council of the World Woman Foundation. She now anchors the marquee interview show, ‘The NDTV Dialogues’, which brings together thought leaders in different fields for a conversation on Indian and global contemporary challenges.
In the last 3 decades, she has interviewed Prime Ministers, former Presidents, Nobel Laureates, and senior government ministers across political parties.
She was a special invitee to the NDTV Board and a Board member of the News Broadcasters and Digital Association, the main industry body till September 2023. As the person who set up and headed NDTV’s Ethics Committee, ensuring integrity and credibility, both personally and professionally, are part of her ethos.
Sonia Singh has also won multiple awards for her leadership and journalism. These include awards for Lifetime Achievement, Transformational Leadership, Best Editor in Chief, Best Talk Show and Best Anchor for her show, the NDTV Dialogues, Sonia is also a recipient of the FICCI Young Achievers Award.
In 2019, she authored a book, ‘Defining India: Through Their Eyes’ published by Penguin. This included interviews with the late former President, Pranab Mukherjee, H.H. The Dalai Lama, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Infosys’ Nandan Nilekani, Nobel laureate Amartya Sen, actor Aamir Khan & cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
Sonia is also a well-known international speaker, she has been invited to speak at Davos by the World Woman Foundation on ‘ Media and Democracy and the World Assembly for Women in Japan among other forums.
Sonia now has insight into India’s key development stories for over 3 decades, giving her a unique perspective of the country’s changing governance, economic & social landscape.
The session will be in a relaxed Q&A format. There is a bar available for additional alcoholic drinks purchase.
